Jamie Dwyer


Jamie Dwyer OAM (born 12 March 1979 in RockhamptonQueensland) is an Australian professional field hockey player. He plays as a striker. He wears the number 1 jersey for his country.
He is famous for scoring an extra time goal in the final of the 2004 Olympics, which resulted in Australia winning the gold medal and being the best player in the world [1]
Since making his debut in 2001, Jamie Dwyer has player over 250 matches for Australia and scored over 150 goals.[2]
In 2010 and 2011 Dwyer won the FIH Player of the Year, following wins in 2004, 2007 and 2009.[3]
He captained Australia in the 2010 Hockey World Cup in India, where Australia beat Germany 2–1 in the final.
Jamie Dwyer has played for HC Bloemendaal in the Euro Hockey League and currently plays in the German Hockey League.[4]
Jamie Dwyer also operates a coaching clinic called 1&9 Coaching, along with fellow Australian player Mark Knowles.
Jamie Dwyer will coach and play in the top men's side at YMCA Coastal City Hockey Club in the 2011 season.[5]
